Make the Senate Work Again

Imagine what might happen if enough Independents were elected to the U.S. Senate so that neither the Republican Party nor the Democratic Party had control of the chamber – at least not without the support of an independent group. Imagine the power of those Independents in getting the Senate to actually do the work of passing bills to fund the government, to solve problems, and to tamp down the angry rancor that permeates Washington!

I call this the “Fulcrum Strategy.” This is how a small group of Independent senators becomes the fulcrum, balancing competing interests, marginalizing extremism, and promoting good government through compromise and consensus on the important issues of the day.

Here is the good news: All these benefits could be achieved by electing one to three Independent senators this November. And there are at least five Independent Senate candidates – all of whom are veterans of our armed forces.

We who are listed below answered our country’s call to serve. We ask you to seriously consider voting Independent in whichever state you reside. We will only restore an effective U.S. Senate if we have the courage to put aside our fear of voting for the Not-Red or Not-Blue candidates and vote for real solutions. As we celebrate our nation’s 250th birthday, let’s declare independence from the dysfunctional two-party duopoly and take back our country!
